I'm even an atheist, and it's OK to say Christmas to me. In that all you religious wackaloons have managed to get Christmas installed as a federal holiday, thereby making it a secular affair, I'm more than happy to have someone wish me a happy secular holiday. Congratulations, you've achieved exactly what you most feared :)

Its's certainly ok to use the word Christmas or to say Merry Christmas to someone, it's protected first amendment speech. But if you're saying it to someone whose religious beliefs you do not know, it's also perfectly acceptable for their response to be a request that you kindly keep your obsolete religious superstitions to yourself. The First Amendment works both ways. I'm all for sharing the spirit of the holiday, I don't however support the pushing of one's religious beliefs on others.
